Economic Impact Payments for People Getting Social Security
If you get Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), Childhood Disability Benefits (CBD), or Disabled Widow/er Benefits (DWB), you will get an Economic Impact payment (also called a "stimulus payment") from the U.S. Treasury, whether or not you filed taxes. Payments will go out no later than early May. Your payment will be sent by direct deposit, Direct Express debit card, or a paper check depending on how you get your Social Security payment. Important: If you are a Social Security beneficiary, have a child under 17, and didn't file taxes, you need to use the Non-Files: Enter Payment Info tool on IRS.gov to claim the $500 payment per child that your family may be eligible to get. You need to do this by noon Eastern time on April 22, 2020. For more information please see the Statement from the Social Security Commissioner. |
